Huron County
Agriculture is big business in Huron County. With more than 865 farms and 238,291 acres of land dedicated to farming, agriculture is the county’s leading industry sector and the perfect location for agricultural support businesses and food processing operations. Our diverse manufacturing base includes food processing (Pepperidge Farm, New Horizons Baking, and Star of the West Milling), plastic and rubber, printing (LSC Communications), automotive supply (Borgers), outdoor power equipment (MTD Products), metal and fiberglass fabrication, machines shops and medical devices (Olympus).
Our network of highways provides quick and easy access to major interstates and the Ohio Turnpike. Huron County is also home to several significant rail yards – CSX in Willard and Norfolk Southern in Bellevue. As the largest Ohio-based railroad, Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway provides an east to west line running through Bellevue and Norwalk, with an additional line running east to west through Greenwich and New London. In addition, Ashland Railway provides short line connections.
Huron County is home to Summit Motorsports Park and just minutes away from Cedar Point and the Lake Erie Shoreline. The county’s cities and villages offer quaint shops for a unique and memorable shopping experience. Competitively-priced utilities and reasonable real estate costs make our available buildings and acreage for industrial development even more attractive. Our dedicated economic development team will work with you to explore every possible opportunity available to assist your business.
